NetXen Ramps up Production of Dual Port 10GbE and Quad Port 1GbE Adapters

NetXen Inc., the market leader in 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) adapter card port shipments, today announced that it has entered 2009 with high volume production of its new line of Dual Port 10GbE and Quad Port 1GbE adapters. The products, which are based on NetXen’s third-generation Intelligent NIC® silicon, offer industry-leading price/performance and features tailored for the mainstream networking market.

"As server virtualization and network convergence trends continue to accelerate, our customers are looking for cost-effective, higher bandwidth networking solutions based on multi-Gigabit and 10-Gigabit Ethernet technology,” said Vikram Karvat, vice president of marketing and product development for NetXen. "Our family of Quad Gigabit and 10 Gigabit adapters offer cost effective, high performance solutions tailored to meet the requirements of all tiers of customers, and marks our expansion into the broader networking market."

NetXen's Dual Port 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ Adapters support the PCI Express (PCIe) 2.0 standard and are offered with various cabling options: the NX3-20GxR supports pluggable SFP+ modules for SR and LR optics, whereas the NX3-20GCU uses direct attach twinax copper cabling. With a starting price of sub-$300 per port for the twinax copper version, these are the most cost-effective 10GbE adapters available on the market.

The NX3-4GBT Quad Port 1GbE adapter, which is affordably priced at just $259.99 list, is the industry's only true native quad port design, not requiring a PCIe bridge to combine two dual port devices. Eliminating the bridge results in lower power and improved data integrity for a more robust solution.

The adapters are available immediately from NetXen and its leading distribution partners, including Bell Microproducts (www.bellmicro.com) and CDW (www.cdw.com).
