Global Unichip Adds Verigy V101 as a Test Solution for Low-Cost, High-Volume Consumer Devices

Verigy (NASDAQ:VRGY), a premier semiconductor test company, today announced that Global Unichip Corp. (GUC; TW:3443), a leading system-on-a-chip (SOC) design foundry, has chosen the Verigy V101, a new low-cost, zero-footprint, 100 MHz system as one of its future platforms for testing development. GUC intends to use the V101 for its higher parallelism and throughput, and its ease-of-use makes software and test program development more cost-effective.

The V101 is designed to deliver effective and economical production testing of very-low-cost IC devices used in a wide variety of low-end mobile communications and consumer products. The V101 operates at up to a 100 MHz clock rate with up to 1,024 I/O channels delivering the performance needed to effectively and economically test today’s most cost-sensitive ICs and microcontrollers.

Its unique Tester-on-BoardTM architecture simplifies the tester hardware and configuration by placing the digital and DC resources directly on the board. This architecture supports multi-site efficiency with high throughput at lower test costs. The V101 uses standardized components that make it easy to setup and maintain, while its architecture makes it easy to expand or reduce capacity on the V101 as customers’ requirements change.

It is the only test system on the market today optimized for wafer sort with a direct probing feature, resulting in a significant cost savings, greater signal fidelity and simplified production setup at wafer sort.

The V101 uses Verigy’s proven StylusTM operating system software, which is easy to learn and use. Stylus features direct EDA links for shorter program development time. Its STIL-based test programming simplifies test conversions of other STIL-based programs and, when combined with deep vector and capture memories, helps to reduce program development time significantly.
