Oclaro Expands Single-Emitter Based Pump Module Portfolio at LASER 2009

SAN JOSE, Calif., June 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Oclaro, Inc. (Nasdaq: OCLR), a provider of optical components for industrial applications, will debut new products from its expanded single-emitter based module portfolio at LASER World of Photonics 2009, taking place in Munich later this month. The new modules offer higher powers, new fiber core options and extended wavelength capabilities, targeting fiber, direct diode, and Nd:YAG laser systems for industrial, printing, medical, and defense markets.

Shown on the Oclaro booth (#C1.341) will be the company's latest high power multimode pump products, including:

  • The 25W fiber laser pump module with 105um, 0.15NA fiber, based on a new hermetically sealed, compact module platform
  • A multi-emitter prototype delivering 40W and more at 9xx nm from a 105um, 0.15NA fiber, satisfying the increased power requirements of fiber laser and direct system manufacturers
  • Modules delivering up to 30W at 808nm from 105um and 200um core fibers, for Nd:YAG pumping and medical applications
  • 2W 105um fiber modules at 793nm and 1470nm for eye-safe Thulium fiber and direct diode lasers for medical and defence applications
  • High brightness multimode modules with 40um or 50um fiber, aimed at the Computer-to-Plate (CTP) pre-press printing market, delivering up to 2W at 830nm and up to 3W at 940nm

Oclaro was formerly Bookham, Inc. prior to its merger with Avanex Corporation last April. The company also recently announced entering into a definitive agreement with Newport Corporation which, if the transaction closes, will, among other things, provide Oclaro with a portion of the Newport Spectra Physics high power laser diode business. Oclaro will continue to leverage its cutting edge, high reliability laser diode manufacturing facilities to service industrial, defense and medical markets with high power lasers and VCSELs.
